Say "Aloha" to the Hawaiian Highflyer, your new best friend in plant form. Native to tropical South Africa but heightening those island vibes, this Spider Plant boasts thin, ribbon-like strands that cascade like a tropical waterfall. With small white flowers on long, elegant stalks, it’s the perfect balance of playful and sophisticated, much like your ideal vacation destination. Plus, it’s an air purifier extraordinaire, inviting you to breathe easy like you're on a Hawaiian beach, cocktail optional.

Benefits:

  • Air-Purifying: Cleanses the air, making your space healthier.
  • Easy Maintenance: Low-maintenance and hard to kill, perfect for plant newbies and frequent travelers alike.
  • Pet-Friendly: Non-toxic to pets, so your furry friends stay safe.
  • Adaptable: Thrives in a variety of indoor conditions, from low light to bright, indirect light.

Care Instructions:

Hawaiian Highflyer isn’t fussy. Place it in bright, indirect light for its best performance, but it can tolerate low light too. Water it when the top inch of soil feels dry – this one doesn’t like to mingle in soggy settings. During the growing season, give it a light feed with general houseplant fertilizer every few weeks. And that’s it! It's tougher than it looks, ready to fly high with minimal effort.

Décor Tips:

Pop Hawaiian Highflyer in a hanging planter to showcase its cascading leaves. Place it on a shelf for an easygoing boho vibe or in the bathroom for that fresh, spa-like feel. Group it with other leafy friends for a lush, indoor jungle or let it go solo to take the spotlight.

Décor Vibes:

  • Tropical Paradise: Turn your home into a verdant haven with this air-purifying beauty.
  • Bohemian Charm: Perfect addition to a relaxed, eclectic space.
  • Modern Minimalist: Adds a touch of greenery without cluttering your clean lines.

Ideal Spaces:

  • Bathroom: Loves the humidity and adds a lush touch.
  • Bedroom: Air-purifying qualities make it a great choice for restful sleep.
  • Kitchen: Brightens up your cooking space with its lively presence.
  • Living Room: Perfect for adding greenery to your main social space.

Botanical Name:

Chlorophytum comosum

Powerful!
Format: Hardcover
The Girl in the Walls is mysterious, raw, and beautifully written. If you have any connection to autism, particularly how autism affects families, you will know how powerful this story truly is. Understanding how the autistic brain is designed, the beauty, the pain, and the family dynamics and genetics involved is so needed. I believe this story has the power to bring healing and understanding to it’s readers. Meg Eden Kuyatt is such a gifted writer. Her words brought tears, awe, and hope. Her poetic style and usage of font, space, and text is unique and inspiring. Meg’s artistic ability shines through on the page in a way that I’ve never seen until Good Different, and I think this book is even more captivating artistically.

A Unique and Incredible Tale
Format: Kindle
This book brilliantly shows what it feels like for me to go through the world neurodivergently. The characters truly resonate. The artistry of the layout and imagery is compelling and once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. What an authentic glimpse into an intense inner world!

Building something wonderful out of the broken pieces
Format: Hardcover
Meg Eden Kuyatt has done it again. I am a big fan of novel in verse, and this author is one reason why. The poetry delivers character, setting, and story in a clear, believable voice. The protagonist, V, is a middle school girl full of feelings, celebrating her difference while fighting for her place in the wonderland of neurotypicals. V introduces herself in vibrant socks that say “I am strange and wonderful.” And with that, we are off. V is reluctantly spending the summer with her grandma Jojo in the pristine white house that has been in her family for generations. History is definitely living here. The house is a character itself (and a metaphor). I love that V’s cousin Cat creates assemblages, an art form I was not familiar with. Cat describes it as taking discarded, broken stuff and turning it into something beautiful (another metaphor). There is a lot going on here and a satisfying resolution brought on by a heaping dose of empathy. Highly recommend for the suggested audience (juvenile fiction, grades 3-7), their teachers, and families with neurodivergence.
